Poundland has informed shoppers that it will shut all of its 650 stores across England, Wales and Northern Ireland on Easter Sunday. The bargain retailer will be giving its staff members a 24-hour break over Easter to spend the holiday with their loved ones. Poundland's branches in Scotland are expected to remain open as usual.
While small shops are able to stay open for the Christian holiday, stores in England and Wales which are over 280 square metres in size are legalled obliged to close on Easter Sunday under Government rules. Some smaller shops, however, do decide to adjust store opening hours to allow their employees some time off.

Good Friday (April 18) and Easter Monday (April 21) are both bank holidays and despite many stores including Poundland remaining open for customers, the usual hours may differ.
Each branch will most likely operate different opening hours over the two bank holidays, so in order to avoid any disappointment and a wasted trip it is advised that customers check store hours ahead of making any shopping plans.
Customers can select the store finder section on Poundland's website to find out required store information including the opening hours, for all of the retailer's branches. You can enter your postcode, city, or town in order to bring up your nearest branch.
Poundland is not the only popular store that will be closed. Aldi stores across England and Wales will also close its doors on Easter Sunday, but will be open between 8am and 10pm on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and 8am to 8pm on Easter Monday.
